You don't need X to run fbtest. Even better, do _not_ run it under X! All you
need is a kernel with atafb.

It's not yet available. Don't expect it before next weekend, though.

To compile your own fbtest, all you need is a working C compiler, netpbm, and
cvs to get the sources.
