[Linux-fbdev-users] does S3 ViGRE DX/GX work with the vesafb device?

Hello! all,

My video card is S3 ViRGE  DX/GX.  I compiled the kernel with VESA 
driver according to "Framebuffer Howto", and made change to grub like this:
kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3 ro vga=ask

After reboot, chose 80x25. In dmesg,
console colour VGA+ 80x25
And cat /proc/fb, nothing there.
/usr/sbin/fbset
open /dev/fb0: no such device


Any help would be highly appreciate!
