[Linux-fbdev-users] Problem with rivafb + NVdriver

Hello everyone,

I  wonder if you  can help with a problem  concerning  rivafb which is
compiled  into the linux kernel (2.4.12).  On  my system (P3, 733 MHz,
GA660+  graphics card with  RIVA  TNT2 chipset)  this  Riva fb  driver
appears to be  incompatible with the   RIVA TNT2 (kernel/GLX)  drivers
(v.1.0-1541) supplied by NVIDIA. What happens is that I get a complete
system freeze on attempting to leave X, or to reboot/close down. This
does not occur when rivafb is used in conjunction with the "nv" driver
that is part  of XFree86 (v.4.1.0); nor does  it occur if I use vesafb
with  the  NVIDIA kernel/GLX   "NVdriver";   but only when  rivafb  is
combined with NVdriver. Because  of the freeze this combination (which
is obviously desireable) is not really viable at the moment...
