Hello, ... I have compiled a 2.5.24 kernel and added the few things needed to make the pm3fb work (basically, i had to patch Config.in and Config.help so i could enable it in the configuration process). Is there a reason why it was not enabled previously, or is it just forgetting the these two files (which probably did not patch correctly due to the Config.in and Config.help location and format change). Anyway, it works fine (well as good as with the 2.4.x kernel), there still is problem with the copying of the text console data at bootup, but apart from that everything is fine. Should i send over a patch for adding it to the Config.xxx files ? Friendly, Sven Luther |

I though the old-format drivers wouldn't work so I never bothered submitting for inclusion. > Anyway, it works fine (well as good as with the 2.4.x kernel), there > still is problem with the copying of the text console data at bootup, > but apart from that everything is fine. > > Should i send over a patch for adding it to the Config.xxx files ? I already included Config.help and Config.in entries for the PM3 driver. As a note please consider porting it over to the new fbgen api. I'm going to removal the old fbgen code soon. |

I'm going to removal the old fbgen code soon. It's on my TODO list, and has been for months. But I still can't get 2.5.x to compile, much less work, on my PPC box. But it works fine right now on linus's 2.5.24, with the above sent patch. But it does need porting, i guess. Friendly, Sven Luther |

I'm willing to try another one, but I'm still disapointed that regular Linus kernel can't even compile main.c on PPC. Just tried: all rsync access seems locked on 2.5.8pre3, and of course debian doesn't have bitkeeper in packages. And bitkeeper download site isn't really user-friendly (guess the "let's register yourself before download" attitude explain why it's not in debian, and not on my system either).Xorsis (ppckernel.org) has nothing beyond 2.4 ATM. Well, I'm still waiting for an accessible, ppc-usable 2.5.[something big enough] before I can port pm3fb. -- DOLBEAU Romain | Who'd believe we'd spend more ENS Cachan / Ker Lann | Shippin' drugs and guns Thesard IRISA / CAPS | Than to educate our sons? dol...@cl... | -- Megadeth, 'Youthanasia' |

It's the one I tried, last time I checked (around 2.5.23), it was still in 2.5.8pre3 (i.e., w/o the new framebuffer layer). Thanks for the tip anyway, I'll try it again, just in case. --=20 DOLBEAU Romain | For a hill, men would kill, =20 ENS Cachan / Ker Lann | Why ? Good news: Only 53c94 doesn't compile, but MESH is OK,
and linux is on the internal bus (w/ MESH)
Bad news: arch/ppc/kernel/process.c doesn't compile.
So the conlusion stand: 2.4.x only for my box ATM

Well, the only problem is that i don't have much time :((( But i will have a look at it. do i need to get the bk tree, or can i start working with the 2.5.24 linus tree i now have ?
