[Linux-fbdev-devel] deriving drivers

Hello all

I'm just curious, is it legal for me to derive a fb driver from xfree86 
sources, and distribute it with the kernel.  I'm not sure about the license of 
things for xfree, i figured someone here may know more.

The X license is BSD style, so I _think_ this should be fine. It's
probably still a good idea to ask the copyright holder(s) and/or
author(s) for permission.

Out of curiosity, which driver is this about?
