The object is the decnet equivalent of a port number (more or less) so
it sounds like there was something in the connection request which the
remote node didn't like.

I'd suggest getting a tcpdump of the connection attempt and comparing it
with the decnet docs. Unfortunately the objects formats are not
described properly in all cases, so the Linux source may turn out to be
a better reference,
