Hi All, Some project news - yes we have news, though it's not much. Firstly I've cancelled the planned move to fedorahosted as it's taken them 4 months to do almost nothing. As part of the reason for me wanting to move was the unresponsiveness and unhelpfulness of Sourceforge, it seems a little pointless. So we're staying with SF. Considering how few updates happen to the code and documents anyway this seems sensible. Secondly, I've sent a patch to the linux-kernel mailing list to orphan the kernel code. I can't maintain it - I don't have the time, the expertise or even really the hardware any more. I also hate dealing with the 'people' on that mailing list (they'll probably bounce my MAINTAINERS patch for whitespace errors knowing them). Unfortunately there is a bug in the DECnet kernel code such that any release after 2.6.29 will just oops when trying to make a connection. So I recommend you steer clear of newer kernels unless you fancy fixing the bug yourself. I'm not abandoning DECnet totally, I will respond as best I can to any bug reports, but it's a mature project now, and just does the small number of things that are asked of it. Thanks /Chrissie/ |
