I can't imagine what might cause a 30x slowdown like that. A few things you might like to try: - run "fal -ae -r exported -vvvv" as root and see if anything odd shows up. - Check the fal process for disk or memory thrashing - try backup/compare & backup/list to see if they are similarly affected. - do a tcpdump to see if the packets start getting delayed for any reason.
