Thanks for that, I'll try to fix the rpm problems and include your documentation
in the FAQ.

I'm not sure what's up with startnet, I think I should just get rid of
altogether really - it's really only there for 2.2 kernels, although it should
still be able to set the MAC address. Are you sure it wasn't being run after
TCP/IP was started ?
