If I have decnet, does this mean I can get a file from the "real" dec machine and serve it to a client through samba? The whole reason for getting decnet was because samba 2.2.7 never worked properly on the alphas. I thought if I had decnet, then I could get to the files on the dec machine and use the samba on linux to serve those files to an SMB (winnt) machine. Will it work for that? --- Steven Whitehouse <st...@gw...> wrote: > Hi, > > If you've got DECnet in your kernel you should have > /proc/net/decnet_dev. > If you are having problems with the device being > busy its because you > can only change the MAC address when the device is > down, so if you > run ifconfig eth0 it should not show "UP" in the > list of flags on the > third line of output when you start to run startnet, > > Steve. > > > > > I have do not have a decnet_dev file under /proc. > > But, thanks. > > > > Running startnet -hw eth0, just gives: > > > > Error setting hw address on eth0: Device or > resource > > busy > > > > RH 7.2 kernel 2.4.7-10 > > > > --- Steven Whitehouse <st...@gw...> > wrote: > > > Hi, > > > > > > Yes, it is.
