Thanks for that report, there's a limit to the number of distributions I can
test :-)

The new build system in latd 1.17 is something I am particularly keen for
feedback on as this is the first time I have used GNU autconf for a prject.

This doesn't really surprise me. If you have any fixes or just suggestions as to
what is going wrong then I would like to have them. My dev machines run Debian
and I have a VMware instance of Red Hat but more than that gets a little
unweildy (as well as time-comsuming).

Could be awkward. I never managed to get that sort of loopback to work with ts10
or simh. I suppose it /might/ work if you dedicate an ethernet card to the
emulator (so the other card would see the traffic). There are possibilities of
doing it with simulated devices like tun/tap I think. but I haven't tried that.
