[Linux-decnet-user] RE: Help decnet/XFree Problem

Hi,

I have install dnprogs-2.17-1 on my distrib Mandrake 8.1
with XFree86-4.1 for decnet.

Now, we succeed to log with the "sethost" command from the Linux PC to =
the Alphaserver 1000/233 (Open VMS 6.1, DECnet Plus V6.3 eco15, X/Motif =
1.2-3, 2 Ethernet Cards (DE435, DE422) only one is enabled to work with =
DECnet Phase IV)
I also succeed to launch X applications on the Alphaserver (like =
DECterm) and displayed them on the PC over DECnet. These X application =
seems to work correctly.


But for some X application, I got the following error message on the =
terminal from which i have launch the application :

XIO: fatal IO error 65535 on X server "_WSA15"
	after 19253 request (7 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
%LIB-F-IOERROR, xlib io error
......network partner disconnected logical link.
------------------------------------------------------------------

When i launch ico application furnished in decw$examples directory (or =
some other application written by me)on Alpha server and dislayed on PC =
linux, it is running for a while (randomly between 1 to 5 seconds) and =
then crashes , giving the error message.

I can make these following statements:
   - This crash happens more quickly if the application needs more =
refreshments    (increasing decnet transactions).=20
   - I discover that these applications use 100% of Alpha CPU.
   - After tracing transactions over DECnet I see that the link =
disconnection is requested by the PC.
   - The problem does not appears when I used a VXT terminal over DECnet =
instead of the PC
   - I also tried to used Mandrake 8.2 distribution, last Debian =
distribution, dnsprogs-2.19, XFree86-4.2... Same problem.


I need your help, I'm in despair to find a solution. I'm working on this =
problem since 10 days now, and I have no more idea. (DECnet problem or =
X/Motif problem ?)

Does somebody has the same problem by launching ico application on Alpha =
machine and send its display on a PC linux over DECnet ? (If no problems =
occurs could you give me you configuration ?)=20
