Thanks for your help on the MAC address front I don't suppose anyone has made a duffers walkthrough guide to DECnet on Linux?? (and need a duffer to try it on) I have spent 2 days working out how to compile a kernel - now I have worked that out and have DECnet in the kernel (not as a module) Then I installed the latest RPM on my RedHat 7.3 (2.4.18-3) system, chose my node name and entered my regular node aliases (then checked they had made it as far as /etc/decnet.conf - they did) I *Think* the dnetd is running - I started it manually. And I have no idea how to use startnet (are there any options I need??) I have added the MACADDR to etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 I have rebooted, started-stopped-restarted networking and tried as many things as my newbie brain could come up with, I have looked at the website (particularly the FAQ) and that is predominantly helenic to me So - the question is.... What blindingly obvious steps have I missed? Thanks in advance Nick |
