Hi
Firstly, thankyou very much for going to the trouble of
making this driver available as open source.
I posted this enquiry to the help forum, but then I read
that you wanted people to use the tracker, so I am
repeating my message here.
I have an ADAC 5500 mf (PCI) card which I bought
from Superlogics in the US about 6 months ago.
I recently downloaded the PCI550x driver and
compiled/installed/loaded it. When I run ./pci550xload
I get this message:
"/lib/modules/2.4.22-x1/misc/pci550x.o: init_module:
No such device"
If I then try to run any 550x programs I get "open
failed on device /dev/pci550x0: No such file or
directory".
I tried recompiling with DEBUG=y in the makefile. I
then looked for messages in /var/log/kern (errors,
warnings, notices, etc.) and couldn't see anything from
the PCI550x module.
Note: I am doing a forced load (-f), since insmod
complains otherwise that there is a kernel mismatch
(compiled with 2.4.19, but 2.4.22-x1 running). I don't
understand how this mismatch has arisen, since I have
done a very recent compile! There must be some flags
wrong somewhere.
There were also about 20 warnings (no errors) during
compilation: e.g.
...implicit declaration of function exit
...operation on 'mm' may be undefined
...dereferencing type-punned pointer will break
strict.aliasing rules
Is this normal?
Hardware:
I have an (old) PII/350 with basic h/w (eth. card,
YMF724 sound, nvidia video card), 256 Mb RAM, 30Gb
+ 8Gb IDE's, DVD-ROM. Running Xandros Linux 2.4.22-
x1 + ALSA drivers.
Any tips or pointers would be appreciated.
Is there any documentation available beyond the 10
line load instructions (which I have missed)?
Cheers
Gavin Weakley
