Hi, I used to have a working LinuxPPC 1999 Q3, then I tried to upgrade it with a 2000 Q4 trying to recreate the original cd structure to make it work with the installer. The result was a half-booting system which crashed while starting X Font Server. Anyway, I got 6 brand new cds labelled "Debian 3.0 ppc bin" (20-01-2002) and tried to install it over my Linux partitions. I managed to get to the installer screen, initialize partitions and install the base system. The readme included in the cd states the "Install kernel and modules" option is not working neither needed, since the kernel is loaded via bootstrap. However, when I try to boot from hd to finish the installation, the root partition gets mounted and then the system goes in a kernel panic. I suppose modules have to be installed somehow... I also read about apus boot-floppies, could they help? where can I dl them? Thanks |
