Hi there,
I have an old Psion Netbook Sereis 7 at home and i am
considering putting Linux on it as Epoc gets a bit old.
I just wondered, has somebody already considered
porting the opensource Meamo platform from Nokia
(http://maemo.org) onto the Netbook. Maemo is based on
Debian, has a clean and nice iterface and there are
already a lot of useful applications being ported to it
(such as Abiword, Gnumeric, Opera Browser, PIM
applications etc.). Pesonally I think this would be
great as the Linux on Netbook project would benefit
from these great applications.

Maemo runs on a slightly different ARM cpu and will not
likely run on the netbook's SA1100 cpu. Most of the
applications mentioned already run on the netbook (Abiword,
Gnumeric, Firefox) - you need either install the Debian
package, or get the optimized tarball (e.g. Firefox) from
our Sourceforge downloads. However, there are issues with
the Series 7 - its 16 MB of RAM rather limits things; even
if Maemo were to be recompiled for the netbook, it would not
likely run on the Series 7.
