Hi, I am LinPsk Fedora downstream maintainer. Currently we are trying to improve user experience in next Fedora release by increasing icon size of applications in application centre. This is because most of the current HW have HI res displays and it is easy to downscale the icons, but upscaled low-res icons looks ugly. Currently we are trying to switch all applications to at least 48x48 icon, 64x64 is preferred, the original bugreport is at [1]. Is there bigger icon than 32x32 available? Could upstream provide/create such icon? Or is there any volunteer who could help with this? I think it would be useful for other distros as well. Unfortunately I am really bad at drawing, so I am afraid I cannot help much here :) thanks & regards Jaroslav [1] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1157554 |

Hi Volker, I am finally getting back into linpsk. I updated my svn copy of the linpsk trunk. Only two files were updated since last june - crxdisplay.cpp and linpsk.cpp. Got a couple of errors that RTTY2 is not defined - and lo and behold the error came from both of those files. It looks like the RTTY2 stuff was for a partially implemented new mode. I added RTTY2 to the enum at line 47 in constants.h and everything compiled. Main problem is that linpsk is not getting the audio from my sound card. I have used gpsk31 - which works fine by simply listening to /dev/audio. But I can not figure out how to configure linpsk to do the same. How should I proceed? Walt Spector W6WS |

Hi Volker, Yes, I was using the rtty2.wav.gz file. My next step is to hook the computer up to the rig. (An ancient TS-930S/AT.) But I need to build an interface cable first. Maybe tomorrow. Hi Walter, are you using the rtt2.wav.gz file from the linpsk homepage ? The error message only appears, if the number of samples is'nt set correctly in the wav file. This seems to have happened when recording this file. All examples I recorded during the last years work well. Volker |

Hi Volker, Thank you for responding! I am trying to get something running for the ARRL Field Day this coming weekend, and appreciate your help. I checked out a svn copy of the code and compiled it. The crashing problem is fixed, and it is decoding data from the rtty2.wav file. (Both QSOs - which is nice!) However it is not detecting the end of the demo file correctly. I get "Error reading data chunk" messages from the getSamples method in the Waveinput class. The code does not seem to handle EOF when reading the demo file. Easy to fix, of course. Walt, this is a known bug in waveinput.cpp and fixed in latest version in svn. Either checkout the latest version from svn, or replace waveinput.cpp in your source tarball with the latest version from svn. Volker, dl1ksv |

Hi, I am trying to get linpsk running on my Ubuntu (10.04) system. I have tried both the v0.8.1-4.1 version that the package manager knows about, and also downloaded and built the v1.1 from sourceforge. My system has the ALSA sound stuff installed, and both Intel and NVidia sound card capability. The sound capabilities work - I can play CDs and watch DVDs without problems. With either version of linpsk, the GUI comes up and I can move through the various menu options without problem. I then set demo mode, set RTTY mode, and set the rtty2.wav file for input. When I touch the RX button, linpsk crashes. I downloaded a different RTTY wav file from some other web site and it crashed in the same way. Does this sound familiar? If it would help, I would be happy to provide the traceback/memory map dump. I could also run it with strace and provide that output. Walt w6ws |

Dear list, I am using a Powerbook G4, Mac OS X 10.3.8, and DarwinPSK 0.8.0.4; all works fine if I use the built in microphone as the audio source. After a bit of soldering, I came up with a simple soundcard interface, connected to line-in on the Mac. Here's the problem: if I switch the audio source from microphone to line in (in Mac OS X System preferences), DarwinPSK doesn't seem to get any input any more. If I switch back to "microphone" all is OK again. (I verified that there is actually sufficient NF going into line-in.) In the DarwinPSK Settings, I cannot select "line-in" or "microphone" as audio input, I only see "built-in audio", or anything else attached (for instance my USB Headset). Any ideas? I guess this is not really a bug in DarwinPSK, since I get the same effect with Multimode. However, there are audio applications where line-in works, typically those where I choose between microphone and line-in in the application's preferences. Cheers, Joachim. PS: Output/transmission works fine... |

I have LinPSK working nicely on receive. (vers 0.8.0.4) Some questions - -Regardless of which receive mode I select for a channel, it always says "Receiving BPSK" on the bottom left hand corner of the window. Is that correct? - Regardless of which PTT device I select and save, returning to the General Settings Window shows "None" selected. How can I get past this? - What is the gray window in the lower right hand corner used for? - The gray window shows a scroll bar on the right, but it doesn't appear to be functional upon starting LinPSK. Under what conditions will it be used? - A small quibble about the General Settings window - the lines delineating the OK and Cancel buttons are missing the line along the bottom, regardless of how large I make the window. Thanks in advance! 73 - Orv - W6BI -- Orv Beach <or...@or...> |

There are three possible causes: 1) If you start LinPsk the first time it's in demo mode. You have to deactivate demo mode. Then you 'll see the sound devices LinPsk has detected. 2) LinPsk uses OSS sound. If you are using ALSA you have to activate the ALSA OSS emulation. 3) The sound device is already in use , perhaps by a r unning sound daemon. Then first stop this daemon. 73, de Volker DLS1KSV > I've just compiled version 0.8.0.4 of LinPSK. I've just compiled version 0.8.0.4 of LinPSK. It compiles and starts just fine, but no audio shows on the waterfall display. I've confirmed I have audio coming in; I can record and play back audio from the receiver using a Linux sound recorder. In troubleshooting, I noticed that my General Settings Window only shows about one-half the settings show in the LinPSK screenshot. Naturally the ones that are missing are settings for audio sources, etc. I got no compilation errors; what might be the problem? The box is a vanilla Fedora Core 2, with all outstanding patches and updates applied. Any info is appreciated. 73 - Orv - W6BI -- Orv Beach or...@or... |

This might be a problem due to your qt setup.
configure supports to implement different styles. Look for the default
used on your system by
./configure --help
I get
-qt-style-<style> ..... Enable a GUI <style> in the Qt Library, by default
all available styles are on.
-plugin-style-<style> . Enable GUI <style> as a plugin to be linked to
at run time.
-no-style-<style> ..... Disable GUI <style> entirely.
Look at your .qmake.cache file located in the qt - home directory.
There should be a line
style =
My one looks:
styles += windows motif mac platinum sgi cde motifplus
Perhaps this solves the question.

Okay, same problem Bob Kehr had from an earlier post to this list, but never got answered as far as I can tell. Slack 10, gcc 3.3.4, qt3.3.2, trying to compile linpsk 0.8.0.4. attached is a scriptfile with the output from ./configure and make. in an earlier response, the author mentioned that there should be a file, /usr/lib/qt/include/qwindowsstyle.h. There is, and I've attached that as well. If I knew more about c++, maybe I could figure this out on my own, but alas, I cannot. If the author or anyone else has a solution to offer, or if there is any additional information about my machine I should give, please let me know. Thanks, and 73's. -- Matt Balaun, CS2200 TA (Office Hours 4-7pm Fridays) KI4APH/AE If we took the bones out, it wouldn't be crunchy, would it? |

I noticed that it requires qt 3.3.X which is very new. Is here a version that uses a older QT eg 3.2.x ? The web pages say that it requires QT 3.X In future it would be desirable not to use the latest versions of development tools as it forces the users to upgrade , not only those tools uses in the linpsk, but often many of their other applications for not good reason.
