alt-x to exit is case sensitive, lower case, the keyboard would mostly be set to caps lock when using packet. (also, how to enter alt-x on an actual vt100 anyway.. its a bad choice. ;)
It seems either I missed several bugs reports or a whole bunch of issues just were released from limbo. Super sorry about the delay here.
alt-x choice came from the original author and hasn't been any issue from anyone else. You can also use ":sys" which is what I personally use. Are you having an explicit conflict with this key sequence?
