I thought I remembered discussing where the 'x' came from in the following display:
My: K6SPI-8x Disconnected x16:33:01
A clue, I can reproduce this with:
env NCURSES_NO_UTF8_ACS=1 linpac
the mosh connection method causes this to be set. So the x seems to be an artifact of a box-drawing character incorrectly mapped.
