I using Debian-3.0r2-i386 (vanilla) with all the ax25 installed from 
debian apt-get
Using ax25.config and running LinPac with BayPac BP-2M modem no problem 
receiving packet data

I have downloaded the linkt-0.8rc2 . to the /usr/src/linkt I have been 
trying to ./configure linkt for about 3 weeks now.
Install one component the other component gets removed.  

I will try this and see what happens next.
