I just checked with the most recent version from the subversion trunk, and 
playback, capture, and the mixer all worked without problems under Linux 
kernel 3.4.11. Here are some things you could try:
*) If the device is plugged into a USB hub, plug it directly into a USB port 
of your computer instead.
*) Try to plug the device into different USB ports.
*) If you have a Windows installation on the same computer, check whether the 
device works with the native Line6 software.
*) execute the script "sysinfo.sh" contained in the driver source directory as 
root and send its output "sysinfo.txt" to me.
