Could someone explain the general method of controlling a POD XT USB device?
I'm trying to wrap my hands around how this all works. From what I
can tell, with older POD devices, you had to plug in a MIDI cable to
control the device (i.e., change amp models, effect settings, etc.).
With the newer PODs it looks like the controlling can done via USB.
My question is:
1. Do you control the POD using MIDI packets/commands still over the
USB interface
-- or --
2. Do you use some other direct USB command to do the controlling?
I was fiddling around with the MIDI API in OS X just to get an
understanding of how this stuff works, but my POD X3 Live never seemed
to respond to any of the MIDI packets I sent it. So now it's got me
wondering whether I should be using some other USB-direct command. I
tried reading through the line6linux driver code, but I'm sure I'm
missing something because I haven't read through any driver
documentation for Linux yet. It's on my todo list next. :)
Thanks for any help you might offer,
Boyd
