I suspect what you want to do is quite doable. Similar projects on the
other side of the fence
have been done. (Windows things run under linux - see mplayer,
captive-ntfs and other projects.)
I am afraid though, that this group is very silent.
I for instance, am not really related to the project - interested
bystander only.
