hello, since LinCVS is hosted at sunsite.dk and we have mailinglists (you must not a member of somewhat for subsribing the lists), there is no reason for hosting lincvs at sourceforge also. therefore, we will remove lincvs from sourceforge these days. if you want you can subscribe for new mailinglist here: http://sunsite.dk/mailman/listinfo/lincvs-users best regards, Tilo |

hello, we have released the new version 0.4.90 of LinCVS. Besides bugfixes, the most important changes are: - You can change the settings via dialog now, - merging branches, - new dialog for repository profiles, - who has changed which line anytime? Binaries for Linux/glibc-2.1/2.2 and FreeBSD-4.4 are available. see http://www.lincvs.org also there is a mailing list for lincvs users hosted at sunsite.dk. because handling of project is better at sunsite, we will remove LinCVS at sourceforge next time. see http://sunsite.dk/mailman/listinfo/lincvs-users the LinCVS team |

The latest version of LinCVS looks great but I am having a couple of problems getting it to run successfully. We have gotten it to compile on Irix (only had to change a couple of defines) and it loads and seems to execute correctly. But... When I browse an already checked out CVS directory (or checkout a new one using LinCVS and to to that new directory) the program says "Is not a CVS directory". I know that it is a CVS repository, but LinCVS doesn't seem to recognize it. How can I debug this problem? Any ideas what may be causing it? A little info about why I need to get it running... We are kind of in a little bit of a rush because we are going to give a seminar on CVS and the entire lab (~150 people) are going to start using CVS on their projects. We want to use a really nice GUI front end to simplify CVS as much as possible. We have been looking at tkCVS, jCVS, and LinCVS. Right now, I think LinCVS seems like the best solution if we can get it running. Thanks, Allen -- Allen Bierbaum ISU -- Virtual Reality Applications Lab Research Assistant |

Hello, a file with some embedded blanks cannot be handled by LinCVS (0.3beta1). So I patched my own version for "Add Files" and "Commit" functions, but it would be nice to add this feature to the next release. Thank you for your cool project. LinCVS guys, Hello, hello, and thank you for your cool project. I have a couple of changes I've made to 0.3beta1, but I can't yet compile them because the build process requires tmake, which doesn't come with QT, and I haven't yet downloaded and installed it (update INSTALL.TXT to include that, maybe?). What all graphical CVS clients are missing is the ability to remove a file from the disk, but not the repository (in the case that I want to kill my file and update to get the latest). Currently I have to drop to a shell prompt to delete the file, then use LinCVS to update it. Here is code which I think will allow removal of the file locally, but not affect the repository: Here are some snippets for lincvs.cpp/h, if you don't mind: lincvs.cpp, line 449, add: RemoveMenu->insertItem(tr("From diskrepository"), this, SLOT(removeFileFromDisk()) ); then insert this function: void ApplicationWindow::removeFileFromDisk() { m_pStatusBarLabel->setText(""); m_pCurCvsDir = (Directory *)m_pWorkBenchTree->currentItem(); if(!m_pCurCvsDir) return; centralWidget()->setCursor(waitCursor); bool firstTime = true; QString tmp = ""; QString fileName; QListViewItem *myChild = m_pCvsFileList->firstChild(); while(myChild) { if(myChild->isSelected()) { fileName = myChild->text(0).simplifyWhiteSpace(); //koennte problematisch werden bei dateinamen mit mehreren zusammenhaengenden leerzeichen tmp += " " + fileName; QFile f(m_pCurCvsDir->fullName() + "/" + fileName); if(f.exists()) {//remove from disk if(firstTime && m_showWarning) { firstTime = false; //create dialog WarningDlg *dlg = new WarningDlg(tr("Warning"), tr("This command will remove file(s) from disk!"), this); if(!dlg->exec()) { delete dlg; centralWidget()->unsetCursor(); return; } m_showWarning = dlg->showWarningNextTime(); delete dlg; } f.remove(); //spaeter auf erfolg testen } } myChild = myChild->nextSibling(); } } Note that this is just basically a copy of removeFromFromRepository(), with the CVS stuff taken out. They should be consolidated into a single function, probably, with a boolean flag telling it whether to do the CVS part or not. Then, of course, update lincvs.h: void removeFileFromRep(); A comment about http://lincvs.sourceforge.net: Your page apparently calls out for sourceforge.css. This isn't found, though, and causes some versions of Netscape to fail to load the page at all. I run Netscape 4.72 (it SUCKS, okay?), and it can't load lincvs.sourceforge.net at all. Opera and Konqueror can, though. Netscape is just so frigging stupid that it fails to load a page if the page's style sheet doesn't exist.
