To make a long story short, I started using FreeBsd and Linux
in 1999-2000 because of my growing lack of love of (Microsoft)
#1- cost
#2-viruses and other nasties
I still use windows but on a 1 day out of 20 basis, and even then its for gaming. I might have to use it more ofter in the future for porting my apps to win32...
At the moment I am running Slackware 10 kernel 2.6.9 -and-
making C/C++ apps in Kdevelope. I have been learning C/C++
for about 4 months now and have been writing simple terminal apps. I am writting under the name
SKS (Smother Kitten Software), and am working on a electricians calculator called (sksvolt)- a terminal app to do amp, ohm, watt,
volt, and volt-drop calculations on linux and possibly windows...
For now i am writting opensource terminal apps that i see a need for as well others suggest. Maby in time i can move into
2d games like the old atari types...
hope i can help out here from time -to- time when i learn more
