The first version of the protocol used by LiMIM (messages to/from Server/other clients; database structure for contacts...) is now downloadable as a file-release (RTF document). See "limim-protocol" package.

At this time, the protocol is very simple but however it will be improved.

I uploaded some simple pages to Create an account, Remove an account, Add friends... etc...

They can be accessed from the project HomePage (http://limim.sourceforge.net).

I've tested the 0.8.2 release on Linux (Ubuntu 5.10) and it works, I think if someone has problems all he has to do is to download the latest J2SE 5.0 from Sun. With the pair J2SE + NetBeans (the IDE I used) it works.
In my system the main LiMIM window appears just by double-clicking LiMIM.jar (placed in /dist directory of package) but if it doesn't work for you or you want to use the command-prompt just type "java -jar LiMIM.jar" as a command (you have to be in /dist directory however....). ... read more
