Hi Sai, welcome on board. Thanks for this very detailled introduction. I really like what you have done so far, looks promising! What's that facebook app you are working on? I'm looking forward to your LS2 ideas. Thnx Marcel. Happy to listen from you :) Facebook App I am building is in short a Question Answer application. You can ask questions to your fb buddies and put some reward . Your buddies can either answer or pass on thus sharing/getting full reward if approved. Then there are public ?'s etc which are open. All this is to get instant answers. You gain reward points, rating etc which can be used in different ways. Unfortunately Facebook is changing its API every now and then and I hope its showing interest in fbconnect (Intentions are clear from its developer road map). So we are planning to divert our developement to fbconnect mode. :) I'll come up with my ideas soon. We have make LS2 a really big one....Thnx once again :) On Fri, Mar 5, 2010 at 6:48 PM, Marcel Minke (Limesurvey) < marcel.minke@...> wrote: > Hi Sai, > > welcome on board. Exactly......Thats one of the ideas i mailed to Scmitz in jan month :) Here are few others from the mail *1. Desktop AIR app development of Lime Survey. *(Eases the process of taking, making and administrating Surveys for the clients / Users. Also installation is easy and cross platform compatibility) *2. Facebook Integration and App development of Lime Surveys* (Simply put increase the users and popularity of the app. Reach-ability will be more ) *3. Integration of Poll Questions *(Donot know if this is your objective when started up) *4. Using Flex / AIR capabilities of making Statistics* *5. Iphone / Mobile App development of LimeSurvey * Ignore flex/air part since Schimtz told to chuk it (Commercial issues ) . Anywayz I am preparing a detailed plan of action with proper mockups for clear understanding :) ** * * On Fri, Mar 5, 2010 at 7:39 PM, Marcel Minke (Limesurvey) < marcel.minke@...> wrote: > Thanks for the additional information, Sai. > > What about a Limesurvey 2 - Facebook app? > > Best regards, > Marcel > > Sai Kishore schrieb: > > Thnx Marcel. Hi Sai and others, thanks for thinking about further ideas. Here is some feedback from an experienced Limesurvey user: 1. Template Framework: I like your suggestion and the proposed design. Please add your notes and screenshots to the idea at our wiki. 2.. Facebook and poll questions: Adding small polls to social networks is a nice idea and will gain Limesurvey lots more users. But I don't think it's useful to port parts of the admin backend to facebook or other social networks. I prefer to have a "publish as: common survey / mobile device survey / facebook pool / homepage poll / ..." function. Everything should be put together at the usualm admin backend but you can then choose which ways you want to publish your survey. Please add your idea to the ideas page and maybe list my suggestion as an alternative. 3. Widgets: I'm very interested in macduy's point of view of this idea. It seems to be a slight extension of his GSOC2009 task. In general as said in 2. this is also just a question of how to represent the survey. One my add further options to the "publish as" options like "HTML survey" and "iFrame". 4. Stats: We had a stats project at GSOC2009 (please read the wiki pages about it). Unfortunately this project didn't result in having stats output available because of the database scheme not being finally set up. In general having stats and especially a very flexible stats API is a must have. Adding a "where are people coming from who have answered the survey" stats overview is nice, but general stats have to be finished first. Please also add this to the idea wiki page 5. Mobile App Being able to participate at a survey using a mobile device becomes more important. I don't consider this a real GSOC2010 task, it's more or less the design of a template which makes the survey available for small screens. Unfortunately design tasks are not allowed at GSOC, you have to create "real code". You can add a "LS2 template for mobile devices" at our idea tracket at http://ideas.limesurvey.org 6. Survey Games: From my experience there is no demand for survey games. Instead one can think of creating the possibility to add e.g. quiz questions in a survey and define the correct answers so you are able to show the users' answers and the correct answers at the end of the survey. This correlates with the assignment idea for LS2 I have written about at the mailing list (assignments in LS1: http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=Assessments&structure=English+Instructions+for+LimeSurvey). If we put both parts together and add "create a nice interface" as a subtask, this might become another GSOC2010 project. Please add it to the wiki page if you are interested 7. Interactive help: Offering help within a survey is mostly done by adding explanation text. One can think of adding a help section to LS2 as it is existing at LS1. You can then decide if the help text is shown in the survey e.g. below the question or by a link which opens in the current window or a new window or stuff liek that. For a GSOC2010 it's a too simple task (that's only my point of view) so I suggest to add it to the idea tracker. 8. LS Buddy: We use several ways to publish informations about bug fixes, new releases and the like: Twitter, limesurvey.org website, ComfortUpdate (http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=ComfortUpdate&structure=English+Instructions+for+LimeSurvey), mailing lists, freshmeat. I think there is no need for such a buddy although it's a nice idea to add some "news" part at the admin interface. 9. Multimedia Q-A: There is no demand for this yet, but feel free to add it to the idea tracker. In general there are some really nice ideas. Some of them can be merged because they only consider the way a survey is published while other may be a compete GSOC2010 task. Thansk for all your work. Hii Marcel and Hello all, may I know where to add the ideas. Do I need to add them here ?? ---> : http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=LimeSurvey+2+Project+Ideas+for+GSOC+2010&structure=LimeSurvey+Developmentas a new comment. Also I've no clue about what to write in probable mentors :) On Sun, Mar 7, 2010 at 5:36 PM, Marcel Minke (Limesurvey) < marcel.minke@...> wrote: > Hi Sai and others, > > thanks for thinking about further ideas. > > Here is some feedback from an experienced Limesurvey user: > > 1. Hi Sai, you found the correct wiki page. Please create an account at http://www.limesurvey.org. Then go to the wiki, log in there with the same data and you should then be able to edit the page. You can leave out the mentor part, that can be added later. Best regards, Marcel Sai Kishore schrieb: > Hii Marcel and Hello all, > > may I know where to add the ideas. Hello all and All the best for Lime Survey for GSoC 2010 :) I've added 3 ideas after giving a lot of thought and a good review by Marcel. I felt the added ideas to be fit for GSoC 2010. @Marcel: Thnx for your valuable suggestions. I clubbed Facebook app and Poll Questions as your alternate solution. I didn't publish widgets idea since it looks like another publishing option. You are right about survey games. It looks good but put that aside taking "Necessity" into consideration. May be we can develop such games in later years (after GSoC 2010 :) ). Even I am feeling the multimedia Q-A idea is obsolete. What about developing mobile app (using XCode and Apple SDK for iPhone, Symbian App, Java App) ? I think we can keep this aside for now......... Coming to interactive help and LS Buddy, I think instead of taking it as a GSoC project, we can develop it individually since it got some cool features. So I didn't add that too. And finally, I didn't get your review about Trac-o-meter in idea 5 and unclear about your comments on statistics, so i didn't add this to wiki (paused it for a moment). Thnx once again. Lets make it BiiiiiiiiiiiiiiG :) On Mon, Mar 8, 2010 at 5:22 PM, Marcel Minke (Limesurvey) < marcel.minke@...> wrote: > Hi Sai, > > you found the correct wiki page. Dude, You messed up the whole ideas page with your syntax error. I wonder why no one checked your wiki edit. Lime Survey Social :: Facebook Application This line is incorrect and it messed the layout of the page. So i changed it to Lime Survey Social - Facebook Application -pavansss91 |

Dear Sai and Pavan, @Sai: please make sure to preview and read through your changes first before you submit to the wiki. Other participants may want to read the article and may be deterred or confused if it is broken. @Pavan: I am sure you can find less hostile words to point out his mistake. Sai is just as enthusiastic about LimeSurvey as you are and working on an open source project means working as a team. oops..... I am sorry, I didn't see the convention being followed in putting an heading to the idea. Relieved to see that it was minor typo ( "::" instead of "-" . BTW the reason is: I copy pasted the things from the word doc I compiled) @Pavan: Thnx for the correction dude. Perfection does matter :) No worries....I am toooooo friendly :P Cheerz, Sai Kishore On Tue, Mar 9, 2010 at 6:55 PM, Mac Duy Hai <macduy@...> wrote: > Dear Sai and Pavan, > > @Sai: please make sure to preview and read through your changes first > before you submit to the wiki. Sorry, My main language is not English, so i am unable to choose right words. I thought these are okay. I apologise to Sai if there is any mistake from my side. Many new GSoC aspirants will be checking it and if they are confused , limesurvey itself will be at a loss. So it needs to be perfect. >> Dear Sai and Pavan, >> @Sai: please make sure to preview and read through your changes first >> before you submit to the wiki.
