VERSION 1.3
- retired non-unicode database interface branch
- migrated to Qt SQL framework and
* added native database support for MySQL and PostgreSQL in
addition to existing ODBC interface
* enhanced large object handling, so there is no need anymore
to adjust e.g. MySQL's allowed packet sizes for large
attachments
- removed about 2000 lines of code in database controller to
regain maintainability and prepare implementation of pending
feature requests
- streamlined SQL queries for faster search result retrieval
- fixed search result table header initialization
(attachment column showing seemingly random header)
The upcoming release 1.3 is well under way.
With its totally reworked database controller
it lays the foundation to finally implement the
open feature requests and paves the way for
better maintenance and shorter release cycles.
If all goes well, internal beta testing will commence
in early May, 2009.
This release is primarily a bugfix release.
See Change Log for details.
This Qt4 based release implements only few new
features, but comes with lots of bug fixes and
optimized search queries instead.
LiLiDaB's homepage was migrated to Wiki form, and updated/extended along the way:
The refreshed installation guide mainly extends the 'Installation from source' section by a side note about the new doc and i18n directories, that also have to be copied to LiLiDaB's installation directory.
LiLiDaB's first final release is now available in the download section.
For the first time, user manuals are available in the download section (English and German; PDF-files).
The 1.2 revision of the installation manual comes with new layout, sections on UNICODE, SQL Server 2005 and reworked chapters on PostgreSQL and MySQL.
This version has switched to CMake as build system and finally comes with UNICODE support.
Please note, however, that the latter must be disabled for MySQL users, as all version 3.x MyODBC connectors are incabable of multibyte character encoding. Thus, the windows installer comes in two versions now.
LiLiDaB now runs lengthy database operations
in a separate thread and displays a
busy indicator meanwhile.
This release is the first to support the MicroSoft
SQL-Server DBMS. A few bugfixes also made it into
this package, please see release notes for
details.
This release does not show much of a change at
first glance, but fixes quite a few bugs under
the hood. Please have a look at the ChangeLog.

This release fixes the database table layout
to allow proper scientific citing, that is
author and editor order is preserved.
To update an already existing database simply
click on 'Update Database' in the
'Maintenance' menu.
Correcting old database records' author and
editor order is a manual task however.
Suggestion:
- Export the entire database to a BiBTeX file.
- Search for each BiBTeX record.
- Open record in viewer.
- Click Edit->Edit Entry or Ctrl+E on
active record.
- Correct author/editor order.
- Delete record from BiBTeX file.
- Proceed with first step until BiBTeX
file is empty.
Please upgrade as soon as possible
as this release fixes a serious bug
(bug #1465383). See release notes
and change log for details.
Please check out the new installation guide.
It is really easy to get LiLiDaB to cooperate
with PostgreSQL on the Linux platform.
Please download the installer marked as
patch level 1 if you get error messages
starting the application:
LiLiDaB-0_5_p1_Setup.exe
LiLiDaB has reached beta status. With added BiBTeX export it is now feature complete and (after many many bugs have been fixed since the last release) ready for public testing.
If you had problems running version 0.4.5 on Windows 2003 or Windows XP machines, please reinstall using the fixed setup: LiLiDaB-0_4_5_p1_Setup.exe
Checkout this version to get an improved user interface that makes entering data much easier now. Version 0.4.5 comes with context menues and allows to view documents without having to open the record details first. Furthermore, it is _not_ neccessary anymore to have the .NET2.0 framework installed!
Release 0.4 is available for download.
This release finally enables edit and delete operations. The Windows binary now uses a GPLed version of the Qt library, thereby getting rid of the annoying [Non Commercial] blurb on each and every application window.
Version 0.4 will finally support edit/delete functionality and mark the transition from alpha to beta quality software.
Version 0.5 is scheduled for January 2006. By then, BiBTeX export will be working and GUI interaction will be more intuitive.
