i think this is a fine idea, as long as i'm not the one who has to
write the static html page.  any objections to it?  anyone want to
take a crack at writing the placeholder page?

that would be a fitting legacy for dirt, i think.  I was also
considering it for the proposed new mf/pl svn/trac installation, but
these things could possibly share space, if we get it all configured
properly.
