I skimmed through the XML mailing archive and I read that libxml2 does
not implement Xlink.=20

Am I right ?

  true, this is hardly something you can do at the toolkit level, 99%
of the implementation can only be done at the rendering level, there
is no suitable API which would make sense in a pure XML toolkit level.
