Tried quite a few things, the project just refuses to compile in VS 2015, either becoming corrupt or not changing settings, like the version of the build tools to use.

Any advice?

Hmm, could be because we use android extensions for visual studio, had experienced these problems before on other machines. can you describe what's going on? and which version of vs2015 are you using?
