I think he meant kext, one of the early discussions was one of making a 
/dev/dsp with a kext...

Yup, but having *something* would be more immediately useful.  'twould 
rock to be able to port any oss app...

Wonder how hard it would be to port libalsa (minus the kernel hooks), 
too.  From what I had heard, alsa resembles CoreAudio a bit...  
Certainly more than OSS does.  ;)
