[Libmesh-users] Dirichlet Boundary Conditions and Vector FE. From: Subramanya Gautam Sadasiva - 2013-03-20 02:37:14 ```Hi, I have a small question about applying boundary conditions using the Dirichlet Boundary Conditions while solving a problem with lagrangian_vector elements. How do I constrain only one of the components? Subramanya Sadasiva "But memory eventually fades. Turbulences damp out, internal strains yield to plastic flow, concentration inhomogeneities diffuse to uniformity. Systems tend to subside to very simple states, independent of their specific history." Herbert Callen . Thermodynamics and an Introduction to Thermostatics. ```

I prefer using the way dirichlet_boundaries applies boundary conditions as opposed to penalty, owing largely to better condition number. On the other hand using vector elements allows me to code in a more dimension independent way. I just wondered if it was possible to do both together. Thanks.
