Pat, You mentioned that Dr. Carey was interested in referring to users of=20 libMesh. Here are some that I can think of off the top of my head. (I've also sent this email to the libMesh mailing lists in hopes anyone=20 I have not mentioned will speak up :-) ) 1.) Technische Universit=E4t Hamburg-Harburg - There are a number of=20 collaborators in Hamburg. This group is responsible for the infinite=20 elements and complex number support in the library, among many other=20 things. I believe their primary application is acoustics and, more=20 recently, fluid-structure interaction and the resulting acoustics=20 environment. 2.) Cornell - I'm not sure to what extent Varis has used the library=20 since our discussions this summer, but certainly our foot is in the door. 3.) University of Alaska, Geophysical Institute - libMesh is used here=20 for glacier modeling. Recent improvements for library I/O have been=20 provided from this group. 4.) Institut f=FCr Organische Chemie, T=FCbingen, Germany - libMesh is be= ing=20 evaluated for inclusion in the EChem++ software package=20 (http://www.echem.uni-tuebingen.de/~bs/echem/software/EChem++/echem++.sht= ml). EChem++ is an open-source problem solving environment for problems in=20 electrochemistry. With luck, libMesh will be integrated into this=20 environment and will be used to solve relevant PDEs for this class of=20 applications. 5.) NASA - currently libMesh is used for a lot of pre/post-processing=20 for hypersonic CFD applications. The library is also being used to=20 develop a rapid-turnaround analysis tool to analyze local heating=20 effects caused by catalytic mismatches on the Orbiter surface. This=20 could result, for example, from a localized repair that employs a=20 different than the nominal thermal protection system. The methodology=20 is essentially based on a two-layer approach, and libMesh is used to=20 handle complex surface meshes in 3D and the associated computations on=20 these manifolds.
