Some errors relate to information unavailable without lsof, when a test expects "the current directory" but sees "pathname /tmp/blahblah directory" instead (and similar). The messages are still accurate, just not what the tests expect. Some tests make provision for two answers, maybe more could. Alternatively, they could test for lsof, and auto-pass without it.
