I would like to know how to simply insert a site, a la
FCPTools. Just a simple doc on how to insert a folder
with files in it and have an instant freenet page.
Heh - they actually include a file with the source called
FREESITE-HOWTO and a README file, that talks about simply
inserting freesites, and the corresponding mapfiles.
Then they don't mention WTF mapfiles are or how to write them.
This software is not particularly useful without a guide on
how to use it. Freenet is complicated enough.

"Interval and offset are both in seconds, and specify the
time interval between date based redirect items and the
offset between what is regarded as time zero for the date
based redirect and time zero for the "epoc" (1 January
1970), respectively."
It's like reading stero instructions. How about something in
simple, dumbed down English.
Maybe a GUI frontend?

One thing that has to be said is that FREESITE-HOWTO is not meant to document how to use Freenet as a whole, or its architecture (both server level and client level), but rather how to use Liber(ator) specifically to insert date-based-redirect freesites. Note that FREESITE-HOWTO does NOT explain how to write mapfiles because Liber specifically generates mapfiles for the user when one of the mapfile insertion methods are used.
However, I apologize if the documentation is rather terse and difficult to understand, as I was the person who wrote both README and FREESITE-HOWTO. I sort of unconsciously assumed that the reader would understand how Freenet works in the first place, at least at the client level, when I wrote FREESITE-HOWTO; I didn't figure I'd need to explain what mapfiles and date based redirects are in the first place.
Note that now both README and FREESITE-HOWTO are included with the binary distributions of Liber(ator)/OCaml FCP/OCaml High Level Freenet Interface, as it now consists of a tarball containing not only the Liber(ator) executable but also said documentation and the OCaml FCP and OCaml High Level Freenet Interface libraries and both source and compiled interfaces, as well as a Makefile that can be used to install said items (note that the libraries and interfaces are only installed if OCaml is installed on one's system).
