#38 Build from outside source tree

I prefer to do keep the source tree clean, so why not?

It hasn't been tested for every possible build target,
but it seems fine for make/make install. make clean
still ought to work, but why bother, when one merely
has to delete a directory? I'm fairly sure I haven't
broken anything.
