Well, do you think you can attempt debug this yourself? You can determine some information about ConfigROM parsing by looking at the source of librom1394 in http://sf.net/projects/libavc1394/ or /usr/src/linux/drivers/ieee1394/nodemgr.c. Then, just add a bunch of printf statements in the relevant functions in dc1394_control.c like dc1394_is_camera and dc1394_get_camera_info(). If not, you will have to wait until someone with the camera figures it out. I'll see if my employer is interested in evaluating this camera. BTW, upon analysing dc1394_is_camera() further based on stewart's failure report, I see a logical error. When checking the spec_id, it should be: if ( ! (quadval == 0x00A02DUL)||ptgrey) { *value= DC1394_FALSE; return DC1394_SUCCESS; } instead of what is there now. The current version basically allows for any spec_id! That's my fault when I committed the change to check sw_version a long time ago. |

Hmm, ok. In dc1394_control.c, dc1394_is_camera(), after the variable declarations but before any real work, hardcode a positive return by adding the following lines: *value= DC1394_TRUE; return DC1394_SUCCESS; then, see if it works. Dan, Thanks for the patch. I'm anxious to see if it can work. Unfortunately, it failed to completely apply. I'm guessing this is because I'm using the 0.9.1 release and you're using cvs. Unforunately, it looks like sourceforge anonymous cvs is down at the moment. I'll try to work that chunk in by hand in the meantime and report back. stewart Dan Dennedy wrote: > The attached patch uses a more generic way of reading the config rom > directories as we had discussed. The attached patch uses a more generic way of reading the config rom directories as we had discussed. Sorry, Olaf, if I "stepped on your toes," but maybe you can test this and refactor the implementation. It does not, however, store the information as we had discussed. Stewart, I believe this might help your camera: cd libdc1394/libdc1394 patch <libdc1394-configrom.patch cd .. make examples/dc1394_multiview (with --device /dev/video1394 if needed) On Thu, 2003-08-07 at 22:33, Stewart Allen wrote: > below are the results from 'cat /proc/bus/ieee1394/devices'. > it looks like the Software Specifier ID is correct, but when > GetCameraROMValue is called for the unit_spec_ID, it returns 0x603ab and > fails. Olaf proposed to do this and it might solve your problem. You can go through the config ROM manually with gscanbus if you want an immediate answer. below are the results from 'cat /proc/bus/ieee1394/devices'. it looks like the Software Specifier ID is correct, but when GetCameraROMValue is called for the unit_spec_ID, it returns 0x603ab and fails.
