Not exactly: I mean a distinction between things issued once (a 
monograph, like a movie) and things issued continually at a regular 
interval (serials, like a TV show I guess, or a periodical).

This would be the part relationship stuff we discussed earlier.  In 
MODS, there's an element within the relatedItem["host"] called "part" 
that captures these data (along with page numbers).
