I have not been developing letterdoc for a while now since I discovered that the version of PHP supplied with Mac OS X does not include the mysqli functions required for MySQL 5 and later.
When I have time I will use the same back-end database, but instead use Tomcat. It should be a lot nicer to work with. Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade to using SVN instead of CVS.
I have thought about making a Mac OS X Tiger specific version that will use core data and/or spotlight. I have already made a script that will search a directory for specified content using PHP. So it shouldn't be too difficult.
Ideally this could potentially make it faster to produce, but would remove the platform independence. To do this I would need to know how apps such as iPhoto and Safari add extra Spotlight meta data to items.... read more
To be able to see the latest developments of Letter Doc, you needs to use CVS, the current module name is "ver1" the web view of the CVS is available at: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/letterdoc/ver1/
OR you can look at http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=114686 to get info of how to download it through the command line.
I will put an archive of all major milestones into the file release system.
