No

Can't drag "Windows Explorer" files into slide area of
LessonBuilder to embed them.

Only able to create a link, even with holding ctrl-key
and "plus" sign showing next to cursor.

Works for me -- perhaps fixed by the same change that took
care of the parent & Gallery.

My mistake -- it's still broken.

Update on how things are standing for this:
Good news for standard OpenOffice.org files like .sxi, .sxc
and even for common image files (yeah!;-)) they can be
dropped into the GCK workarea and it's working just fine, BUT...
.lesson files don't get inserted correctly when
drag-n-dropping them, what happens is that an broken image
gets inserted with the text "SVOutObject", or something like
    that.
So it seems it's just not correct for .lesson files, but
that's not a surprise for those are not internally supported
    from OpenOffice.org itself.
This issue can thus be pretty much closed, but I will leave
it open cause it's an important thing and .lesson files
    still need support.
    Will lower priority.
