-d implies -f, with either one the process should keep running in the
foreground. If it doesn't, it means the process crashed and you will get the
following error when trying to access the mounted filesystem: 

> ls: cannot access /lessfs: Transport endpoint is not connected

Did you perhaps forget to run "mklessfs /etc/lessfs.cfg" to initialize the
database?
