The crash report would be fine. Could you please upload or paste it here?
Unfortunately there haven't been build any native Intel versions since the 537 series. So it would run in Rosetta if running at all.
I still hope to find a volunteer for maintaining and building an Intel version this year.

Sorry, no crash report... The Icon just jumps up and down a little bit in the dock and then silently disappears.
Anyway, the 601.7.7 seems to run very well.

I'm not sure it does indeed load the updated WebKit on your machine - what's the version Safari reports in its "About Safari" menu?
Mine, for example reports "Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3, 5603)", 5603 meaning that it's using WebKit release 603 built for OS X 10.5 .
The last native Intel build is 537.78.2_2, which is quite outdated but you can still use it as a reference.

I fear I have the same issue i fear. I want to run on 10.5.8 Intel
I downloaded 603.3.3
When I launch WebKit it bounces a little in the dock and just quits, no message.
In the Console I see:
12/15/17 11:53:44 PM com.apple.launchd[163] ([0x0-0x12012].org.webkit.nightly.WebKit[260]) Exited with exit code: 1
I also checked the "Rosetta" property in Get Info, but does not help
537 version: works like a charme, about displays: Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3, 5537)
601 version: starts up, about displays Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3) is doing anything at all?
603 version: no startup
Stock Safari reports: Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3)

Since 601 Leopard WebKit brings its own versions of GCC and C++ runtime libraries, that might prevent it from being run in Rosetta
The only solution in your case would be a 10.5 Intel build - while that should be quite easy to do, it would take quite some days for building GCC. And to me it seems a 10.6 Intel version would make much more sense since there seem to be far more people running 10.6 on Intel Macs.

I hope a 10.5 built version would run also on 10.6 ?
Otherwise the best would be to provide both of course.
I see if I can help you.
