I get a fatal error every time I try to use the score editor. The error says
"Program Failure: not enough space for drawing just one bar" Running XP Home
This error is, normally, because the score width is too small to draw one bar
(or at least some notes). It is caused either by a defective score or by
having set so wide margins that there is very few space for the score. If this
doesn't solve the problem, could you send me the offending score?
It does it whether I am trying to create a new score or open one of the
examples that come with the program.
As said, this problem occurs only when there is not enough space. If
it happens whenever you open ANY score, I have no idea about what is
causing this problem. So, we will have to do some checks to get more
information about the problem:
Go to Menu > Help > About and click on 'Build info.' button. Please
take note of the displayed values for Display (last two lines).
When you open the exercises, do the scores display ok?
When you clicks on Menu > File > New and the score wizard is
displayed, dows it renders corectly the score in the preview box?
Is there any other error or issue that you have noticed?
Thanks for your help,
1 Build info as follows
Display: PPI : (x=96, y=96), Char size (px): (w=7, h=16)
ebook window : no window available
2 The scores seem to play fine

I just installed and I have the same error.
Sorry but I can not reproduce the problem and I can not guess any possible
cause. By next weekend I expect to release a new version with more lessons.
This new version fixes many problems related to score renderization. Please
wait until next week and try again with the new version to see if the problem
still exists. Thank you.
I have exactly the same problem. Tried the portable version (4.1) and all
Is there any way I can help you trace this bug ? I do not really need the
score notation for now but would be glad to help :D
Ok, seems the "bar" is created... in the tools bar :D If you do not validate
de error message you can even play a bit with it.
Seems a bit too narrow for it ^^
Same problem with the ebooks that try to print a staff (ex : -level 1 reading,
Thanks for your offer to help in debugging this. First I would suggest to
download latest version (4.2, released yesterday) and to check that the
problem still exists.
If so, I will send you a debug version of the program that will save a log so
that I can analyze the problem.
Hello Cecilio, first I must tell you that your program is amazing :)
For the versions, the bug only occurs with the 4.2 version. No problem with
the 4.1.1, is it in installable or portable version (by the way, I can't make
the portable version work in anything else than italian, but it is another
The crash happens when :
I use XP home SP3 french, tried to run the program in english but bug still
Hope it does help.
Hello again, sorry i'm spamming this thread. I think I found something. I'm in
1680x1050 wide resolution, just tried to switch to 1024x768 and ... no more
Uninstalled older version and then installed 4.2 version (clean). Still get a
fatal error every time I try to use the score editor. The error says "Program
Failure: not enough space for drawing just one bar". I am running XP
Professional SP 3. Screen size 1600x1200 (in case that matters, don't know
that it does).
Great work! Thanks for your time for doing these checks and posting the
information. I finally was able to reproduce the bug just by changing monitor
resolution to 1600. I will debug this and release a new version fixing the
problem as soon as posible.
As to 'portable' versions, you should know that LenMus can work without
installing anything on your system. Install it on any sytem and copy the
LenMus installation folder to a pendrive or any other device. To run LenMus
from this device just open LenMus/bin folder and execute lenmus.exe. That's
all! No need to register DLLs, fonts or to create Windows Registry keys.
I will keep you informed about the bug in this thread.
Thank you again and best regards,
I have just uploaded a new release (4.2.1) that fixes the problem (I hope!).
I would appreciate confirmation. Thank you
Works for me. Thanks.
All works nicely. Thank you !
Hi Cecilio, even with this new release (4.2.1), we have the same problem.
X-LenMus (and the installed version too) craches when you try to create a new
score. We have reported the bug in our forum http://www.winpenpack.com/en/e10
7_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?43041 (sorry, in Italian only..)
Hi, thank you for reporting this. I will download X-LenMus and will try to
investigate. I've visited your forum and "no problema. Spagnolo e simile a
l'Italiano e posso capire un po" ;-)
I was testing X-LenMus 4.2.1-rev3 and I was not able to crash it. The bug that
forced us to release version 4.2.1 seems to be fixed, and it was related to
chaging screen resolution. In order to try to reproduce the problem we need
more information about the circumstances or actions being performed at crash
time. Also, I would like to know if, for packaging X-LenMus, you use the
standard distribution package and take the lenmus.exe from there or, instead,
you build it by compiling from sources.
My screen resolution is 1440x900, but even with 1152x864, 1024x768 and 800x600
I have the same problem. Are you sure the bug is related to screen resolution?
I've tested it on Windows Xp (sp2/sp3)
For the portable version we use the standard distribution package (included in
