Why do you want to use an old version (lemur 4.9)? Indri 5.6 will run in Windows 7/8. Download and install. You will also need Java on your system to use the user interface. On Windows 7/8 systems, users have successfully used it by installing the latest Jdk 1.6 32bit. (They have had problems when they had installed Jdk 1.7 versions.)
The Start->All Programs ->Indri menu will have a user interface for indexing and retrieval.
