Yeah, I had a chance to talk to Harold and Yitz today, and I think we'll all be in the lab this evening. Yitz and I are there now, and harold should be around soon. Heya folks, I'm free to do some LemFS work tonight (though I haven't had much chance to look over what's been checked in so far, as yet). If other people (including the few who do know what needs to be done) are going to be around in the MacLab, email the list and I'll be there. Otherwise, chances are I'll be home working on the assignment. Mike |

Hey all, So last night Harold and Yitz and I started actually coding LemFS.=20 Yes, it's true! Go ahead and check out the current state of the code through the WebCVS interface on sourceforge. Next time we get the chance, btw, we should all buy Harold and Yitz a round for pulling what amounts to an all-nighter in the depths of the Reg. I myself ended up chickening out and heading home long before dawn. Anyway, I'm probably going to be in the maclab again starting this afternoon around 3:30, going on fairly late. The H-Y duo will probably be recovering lost sleep, so all other teammates are encouraged to join me. If not, well, I guess I still have that other networks assignment to finish. Hope to see ya -- Max Bane ba...@uc... |

So you guys'll probably hate me for this, but I'm actually going to be out of town for job interviews from the 21st (Saturday) until the 26th (Thursday), and up until then, I'm going to be working mostly on a project I plan on using for a code walk I have to do with one of the companies. Outside of that, I'm down for some all-night coding sessions. Ok, I might as well do this. Sorry about not replying earlier, but I've been pretty damned busy this weekend. However, I should be free most nights to do some coding, though I've rather foolishly scheduled classes at 9am for Tues/Thurs. The only night that I'm not going to be able to sacrifice is Friday, but I figure that's not going to be a popular choice for mass coding sessions. One other note: I'm terrible at pulling all-nighters. That said, let's try and get things started soon. Mike |

Alright, I'm resending this cause I don't think it went through the first time. Apologies if it did. Hey guys, I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make it to networks class today, so I thought I'd let you guys know what's up. My plan right now is to finish the design draft by tonight. Once that's done I'll send another message to the list, and we can hopefully start talking about getting together sometime soon. I'm thinking this weekend if possible -- as was pointed out the other day, several members of our team are graduating this quarter, so that cuts a week off of our potential timeframe. I.e., we really need to get cooking at this point. So, folks who work in the maclab: is there any preference for one day over the other this weekend, seeing as we may need to extend the lab hours? How about in general during weekdays? Also, as far as shift times and other obligations go, what would be a good time for us to get together? For myself, I only have one other real obligation this weekend, which I can work around, so I can pretty much do any time. LemFS uber alles! -- Max Bane |

LemFSaholics, There is no CS class tomorrow (Wed). As a result, we will all be free of obligation from 1:30 until at least 2:30. Therefore, a few of us have agreed that we should try to meet up at that point. We also figured that we should let the rest of us know. So, Wed. 5/11/05 1:30 PM CDT Maclab (?) Be there. Or face consequences, or lack thereof, to be determined at the meeting. -Harold |

So after some fruitful discussion with Yitz and Ryo about LemFS's design, I've started writing a design draft -- just to sort of get the ball rolling and detail everything that needs to be implemented. You should find a link to it on the website's front page - take a look at what's there so far and give comments :) Also, everybody has their own user page on the wiki now - click on your name on the front page. -- Max Bane ba...@uc... |

Since we all seem to be full of ideas for times, I'm up for anytime before sunrise tomorrow morning. Hope that narrows it down. -Harold |

So when are we getting together today? I'm pretty sure someone said not before evening, which I second. Anyway, I have to go downtown today. When I get back I expect there to be a consensus :) -- Max Bane ba...@uc... |

So now we have a full-blown wiki at http://lemfs.sourceforge.net. Go check it out. It's not publicly editable, so to make changes you'll first need to login in with an editor's password. Go to any page's footer, click on "Administration" and click the Password action. Enter "clamslut" for the password and click save. You (and anyone else reading the listhost archives) should now be able to edit and create the pages. Take a look at some of the existing pages to get a feel for how the wiki formatting works - it's pretty simple. Have fun -- Max Bane ba...@uc... |

I've added some hasty thoughts of my own to Ryo's notes. I guess the other thing to think about is: when can we all meet together as a group? This weekend would be nice. Anyway, think about it, and we can discuss after class tomorrow. -- Max Bane ba...@uc... ---- Original message ---- >Date: Thu, 07 Apr 2005 16:51:04 -0500 >From: "Ryo Chijiiwa" <ry...@il...> >Subject: [Lemfs-devel] everybody should be here now >To: lem...@li... > >I manually added everybody to the mailing list, so let me know if you >don't get this (the problem of finding out about this email without >receiving it, is left to the non-reader). > >If you're not in the sourceforge project, let Max, Yitz, or I know so we >can add you. > >Andrew Cone has joined the project. > >I started reading the GFS paper, and have written down some thoughts on >the wiki... if anyone else has ideas, please add/edit: >http://kilorum.thecite.com/?link=gfs%20notes > >Ryo |

I manually added everybody to the mailing list, so let me know if you don't get this (the problem of finding out about this email without receiving it, is left to the non-reader). If you're not in the sourceforge project, let Max, Yitz, or I know so we can add you. Andrew Cone has joined the project. I started reading the GFS paper, and have written down some thoughts on the wiki... if anyone else has ideas, please add/edit: http://kilorum.thecite.com/?link=gfs%20notes Ryo |
