After far FAR too long, I've finally been able to track down and - I think - resolve the 'leapattributes' bug that has plagued the last couple of releases of LEAP.

I've therefore made leap-1.2.6.1 available on the sourceforge download site:

After about 10,000 downloads of the design PDF, I'm pulling it off of Sourceforge. In a nutshell, I'd like better feedback on how people are using this PDF, and SF doesn't give it to me as far as I can see.

I've spent a little time over the last few days making some plans for some significant upheavals to LEAP to improve its reliability.

This will probably turn LEAP into version 1.3, although depending on the amount of change, it could still be "just" 1.2.7.

LEAP is a free relational database management system (RDBMS) that is

I'm more than a little pleased to be able to announce that a book has just
been published which I've co-authored, that features a chapter on LEAP.

The book is the long awaited 2nd Edition of "Theory and Practice of
Relational Databases", by Stefan Stanczyk, Bob Champion and Richard Leyton.

Releases of LEAP 1.2.5.2 are now available, precompiled for the following platforms:

- Linux 2.2 (i386)
- Sun Solaris 8 (sparc)
- FreeBSD 4.2 (i386)

Others will be added in due course, based on available computer facilities.

Version 1.2.5.2 of LEAP has been released. This contains a couple of minor bug fixes and some tidy-ups.

It's the recommended version.

The LEAP website has been completely redesigned, thanks to the help of Jamie from http://www.fourfusion.com

i'm pleased to be able to let you know that, after much delay, i've finally recovered some of the original design dcumentation for LEAP,
when it first appeared back in 1995.

the file will hopefully be available today or tomorrow as a PDF file. if you'd like to receive a copy, please drop me an e-mail (rleyton@acm.org). the file will be between 400Kb and 500Kb.

the documentation pertains to the version of LEAP that i wrote back as a student at Oxford Brookes University between 1991 and 1995. LEAP was my
final year project. the version of LEAP as it existed then was a PC (ms-dos) program, written in Borland Pascal, and had a lot fewer features than the current incarnation (and different approaches to many of the common ones). admittedly, it did also have a couple of key features (such as indicies), which are yet to appear in the current
