The registration and validation processes need to send mails to the users to check their email adresses and inform them that their user has been created in the application. However, the mail configuration is hard-coded in the application. This prevents the application to be accessed except if the database is tweaked. A better work-around is to change the components.xml file that is in the WEB-INF folder inside the WAR file that is itself inside the EAR file.
There, you will find a configuration line that looks somehow like this:
<mail:mail-session host="yourSMTPServer" port="25" username="yourEmailAddress" password="yourPassword"/>
You should adapt the host, username and password parameters and you should be good to go.
This will be fixed in the next version (probably by the use of a configured mail session in the JBoss application server.
