#12 CHARACTER_LENGTH

I just saw this comment on the news item 'Support for
PostgreSQL' while playing with RSS feeds... It's quite
old but I add it anyway. Seems to be a valid feature

Hello,

Why is a built-in function like "LENGTH" not using the
SQL:1999 standard function name CHARACTER_LENGTH? - I
thought LDBC aims to make it possible to develop using
standard SQL and then have it translated to whatever
the current DBMS supports; have I mis-understood the
LDBC objective?
