I took the idea from phpldapadmin.
There is an option to check if the set password equals with the given one.
This would be awesome in ldapadmin too if included for sambaSamAccount and posixAccount.
It does contribute to administration, mainly for error checking.
Not that this is a daily problem, but there are times when a quick check whether the entered password matches the one stored prevents a longer struggle.
Without this it is really hard to check whether the entered password matches the stored one.
And yes it can surely be used to guess the users password, but if one would start an adventure like this he could choose from lots of other handy tools.:)
I understand that this isn't a top priority feature, but I think it could make a nice little plus.

Ok, I think I know what you mean. Error checking, for instance, as to check whether a user complaining he/she cannot login or use a specific service uses a correct password in a first place? The obvious prerequisite being that the user reveals his password to the admin breaking of course all best practice and possibly corporate policies of secure administration :-)
Somehow it doesn't feel right... on the other hand, if PAL has it and nobody complains...

Exactly as you say.
Yeah, I know it's not really nice and corporate friendly, but (especially for smaller businesses where there are no such stringent rules) sometimes it can be a life saver :)

Hm, I'm puzzled how this feature may contribute to administration, asside of guessing a user password?
